America has voted. Resembling a passageway into a Rocky Mountain mine, the public restroom in Minturn, Colorado, caught the attention and accolades of enough Americans to win this year’s Best Restroom contest. The annual contest hosted by Cintas is in its 14th year, and as the 2015 winner, the town will receive a $2,500 credit to spend on Cintas cleaning products and services.
“Making the humble public restroom into functional art was both a design challenge and a joy,” said Janet Hawkinson, director of design and project management in Minturn. “We are gratified to be recognized for achieving that and for creating a project that reflects the uniqueness of the community.”
In the contest, which attracted thousands of online votes, America chose The Music Hall in Portsmouth, New Hampshire as the No. 2 place “to go.” Charleston Distilling in Charleston, South Carolina finished No. 3. Cintas selected the ten finalists based on cleanliness, visual appeal, innovation, functionality and unique design elements.
