When 11-year-old Nic MacLennan’s backyard washed away two years ago due to flooding, he was understandably frightened. But the Colorado Springs youngster didn’t let his fear conquer him – instead he found a way to conquer flood damage. Testing, revising, and working relentlessly til he got it right, the boy won the Pikes Peak eleSTEMary Engineering Challenge encouraged by the local Utilities company. Sometimes a fresh, young perspective is all it takes to come up with a viable solution to a problem we all struggle with. We applaud you, Nic MacLennan! And hope to see more innovations from you and your generation!
